Silan Date Syrup

16 reviews

A natural sweetener, sometimes referred to as “date honey” because of its thick, syrupy consistency and rich, complex flavor. Our silan is made with only dates from the Arava Desert that we steam and press to perfection. Silan Date Syrup is milder in sweetness yet deeper in flavor than honey or maple syrup. It’s also loaded with vitamins and minerals.

Drizzle on pancakes, replace other sweeteners in smoothies and sauces, top roasted veggies to really wow your family, and use it in your favorite craft cocktails. (Did we mention silan is amazing in cocktails?)

Store Soom Silan in a cool, dry pantry for easy drizzling.

    Great depth of flavor

Drizzling just a little of this over homemade hummus added amazing flavor. In some ways this is like a really, really good aged balsamic vinegar: rich and flavorful with a base note of sweetness. I'm looking forward to using it to glaze salmon, for teriyaki, maybe an apple pie. The packaging makes it easy to drizzle a fine line of this very thick syrup. A little goes a long way.

Soom Silan is a game changer--part of every meal. It's the secret ingredient to my morning smoothie, salad dressings and homemade ice cream. Paired with Soom organic tahini, it's also my favorite hostess gift.

I bought this date syrup in the past and was surprised at how often I found uses for it! Not just in baked goods , but in marinades and salad dressings with a Middle Eastern- Mediterranean flavor. I just ordered two more jars, and plan to make date crumble bars and of course, use it on toast plain or drizzled with Soom's Tahini , or in my morning yogurt/ oatmeal ..... the possibilities multiply once you try it -- I find the date flavor yummily addictive.

When I first discovered Soom Foods tahini, I was excited to see that they also offer date syrup. I've wanted to try it for a long time. I'm so glad that I added this to my order! Guess what? This is my new favorite pantry staple. Yes, it's great in shakes and smoothies. But I'm beginning to discover how versatile this date syrup is. Last week, I used it in the marinade for a Thai chicken recipe (instead of coconut palm sugar). It worked like a dream! Yesterday, when I made multigrain bread, I used this silan in place of honey. Again, the results were fantastic!

I fell in love with Soom tahini so when placing an order last year I thought I'd try the Silan syrup and so glad I did. It's a thick syrup with great smooth texture and has such naturally sweet flavor. I do not like sugary foods and this is perfect, it's sweet, but not too sweet and the date flavor is divine. I use a 1/2 TBSP in my morning yogurt bowls and for anyone following WW (weightwatchers), 1/2 TBSP is only 2 points! I'm eager to try different recipes with this syrup as I love the flavor! Oh and it's less sugar than agave syrup and honey which is another win!

there's no place like the kitchen table

to bring us together as a family. We think the taste and versatility you’ll find in every jar of Soom will draw your family and friends to the table too!
